1. Victorian Parian Porcelain Pitcher "Hanging Game" c1845 - 1865

Winning Bid: $135 (DS)

This is a real Victorian era Parian porcelain pitcher that was originally titled:  "Hanging Game".   It dates back to about 1842 - 1865.   Pic 3 above shows the original sales ticket from many years ago when I bought this gorgeous pitcher.  Parian ware is an artificial substitute for marble, originally a brand name for a variety of un-glazed biscuit porcelain, developed in 1842 in England. This is cast in molds, typically for small busts and figurines, rather than carved. Measurement is:  9.5" H.  It is in exceptionally fine condition for a pitcher this old!   You will love the texture and quality!!!

2. RARE Old Pottery IG (Greyhound  or Whippet) Head Salt Pepper Shakers

Winning Bid:   $179.99 (VW)

This is a rare set of  IG, Greyhound or Whippet head pottery salt and pepper shakers.   After doing an exhaustive search on the internet for a similar set....I failed.   These really are very unusual.  My guess is that the set was made in the 1950s.   Measurement is 3.25" H so this set is not tiny.   These shakers will even hold a decent amount of salt & pepper!    On the bottom are the original cork stoppers.    There are amazingly few signs of wear.   I have had this set for many years.  It was kept in a temperature controlled environment before I bought the set and in while in my care....temperature has also been controlled   As a result there is little to no crazing.

3. Vintage Pottery Sitting IG 7.5" H Made in Japan Original Mould Figurine c1958

Winning Bid:  $50.00 (MO)

Over the years, moulds from this particular pottery figurine were copied and then used to create ceramic figurines all over the USA and England.  This is one from the original mould imported from 1950s Japan,.  On the bottom is the original MADE IN JAPAN label.   The dog is creamy white with a light reddish cast.   The pose and facial expression are heartwarming.   There is no sign of later damage on this figurine....which is a miracle.  However, keep in mind that  all of the dog figurines from this famous original Japanese mould were not created with the precision that most of the German IG figurines display.   For example, there are a few little pock marks in the pottery and the hand painted nose is slightly off center.  However, the pose is so heartwarming that this figurine was copied and copied and copied!  Measurement is approximately:  7.5" high.   Not many of these original mould figurines remain and this one is in remarkably fine condition!

Winning Bid:  $25.00 (BB)

Over the years, moulds from this particular pottery figurine were copied and then used to create ceramic figurines all over the USA and England.  This is one from the original mould imported from 1950s Japan,.  On the bottom is the original MADE IN JAPAN label.   The dog is creamy white with a light reddish cast.     All of the dog figurines from this famous original Japanese mould were not created with the precision that most of the German IG figurines display.   For example, hand painting was not done with precision.  However, the pose is so delightful that this figurine was copied! On the dog's right ear is a small surface chip.  Aside from that everything else seems fine! Measurement is approximately:  7" long.   Not many of these original mould figurines remain.

5. Old Plastic (Bakelite?) IG Head Handle 1930s or 1950s 5.5" High

Winning Bid:  $25.00 (KG)

This is an interesting collectible.  It is an old plastic handle with an IG head on it.   The plastic may be Bakelite....but I do not know that for sure.   The eyes appear to be made of glass rather than plastic....but I can't be sure of that either.   The handle may have once graced any number of items like:   1.  an umbrella  2.   a whisk broom  3.  a cane  4.  a shoe horn, etc. etc.  This is an unusual piece.   I checked online and could not find another one like this.  When first purchased,  I was told that the handle dates back to either the 1930s or the 1950s.   Aside from a very few minor signs of wear and a coat of dust...this handle is in excellent condition.  Measurement is approximately 5.5" H.   It's a lovely and unusual collectable!

6. Contemporary Small Snoozing Cold Cast Porcelain IG American Maker 4" L

Winning Bid:  $75.00 (JB)

A few years back I bought this lovely small cold cast porcelain IG from a man online who was in the business of designing and creating cold cast porcelain dog figurines.   I loved his work and feel awful that I can't remember his name.   Perhaps one of you will recognize this.   At one time we sold several of these in order to benefit the former IGCA Rescue.   Cold cast porcelain is a combination of porcelain and polyresin.  The cold casting allows each and every figurine to emerge from an original mould in pretty much perfect condition!   Over the entire figurine is a gorgeous high gloss glaze.  Measurement is approximately 4" long.   The maker of this figurine was an American living in the USA.  I have no idea if he is still in business or is even still alive.   If one of you recognizes this piece...please send an e-mail to Judy Longhouse at:  LonghouseJ@aol.com and remind me of the maker's name.  This figurine is in excellent condition!

7. Rare Old Victorian Era Parian Porcelain 2 IG Figurine 6" Wide England

Winning Bid:  $35 (KD)

This is a real Victorian era Parian porcelain figurine featuring two Italian Greyhounds.  It dates back to about 1842 - 1865.   Parian ware is an artificial substitute for marble, originally a brand name for a variety of un-glazed biscuit porcelain, developed in 1842 in England. This is cast in moulds, typically for small busts and figurines, rather than carved.  The sculpture work on the figurine is lovely!  However, the figurine is not perfect.   There are some signs of damage if you look closely.  A couple of back legs have been repaired.  One of the dogs has a missing front paw and a couple of ear tips are missing.  There is also a couple of chipped off leaves on the pedestal base.   None of those things bothered me because the beauty of the piece more than compensates for the flaws.  These dogs are not Greyhounds but are definite IGs.  The narrow muzzles with a stop between the forehead and muzzle, the delicate legs and the elegant grace are much more like an IG than a Whippet or Greyhound.   This very old rare sculpture and it deserves deserves to be preserved!

8. Unusual Italian Pottery IG with Cherry Ice c1980s 5.25" Wide Italy

Winning Bid:  $60.00 (DL)

This is a delightful Italian pottery IG in a curled position.   Around the dog's mouth is an application of pink that looks very much like cherry flavored Italian ice.   I was told that this pink application was done on purpose and was not a mistake in the finishing.   The dog looks a little unhappy because it knows that it was naughty.  Little Italian Greyhounds  are not supposed to chow down on Italian ice.  <VBG>   I loved the story and bought the figurine!   The glaze is a lovely high gloss.  On the bottom is the original label indicating that this figurine was indeed made in Italy for the I. Magnin Gift Galleries in San Francisco.   Measurement is approximately 5.25" wide.   There is a layer of dust that I have not cleaned.  It is my policy to not touch vintage figurines.   This is a lovely and unusual figurine that was imported directly from Italy.   It is in excellent condition.

Rescue will pay for the cost of USA shipping.

9. Fine Porcelain Discontinued Bell with IG, Whippet & Greyhound Bavaria
  Germany SIGNED!

Winning Bid:  $50.00 (DL)

In 2002 the famous Tirschenreuther Fine Porcelain Factory in Bavaria closed its doors for the last time.  What a loss that was!!!  Former owners of this factory included famous names like Metzler (of Metzler & Ortloff) and also Hutschenreuther.   Up for auction now  is a rare discontinued bell that bears the well known Tirschenreuther maker's mark (the same mark that has been used since 1922).   This particular bell was called the Winter HundBell c2000 made in Germany.  The bell is signed by the German artist, B. Hickman.  Around the circumference of the bell is a beautiful Hickman original design that celebrates the Italian Greyhound, the Whippet and the Greyhound.   I checked on the internet for other bells like this one and there were none that I could find.   Although there are still some Tirschenreuther porcelain bells still on the open market...I could find none with the 3 sighthound breeds on it!    Measurement is approximately 3" H.  This bell is in EXCELLENT condition!  Most of us have a special place in our hearts for Whippets and Greyhounds and this bell celebrates all!!!  The quality of porcelain is exquisite and the glaze is the typical beautiful Hutschenreuther type of high gloss.    It is gorgeous and you will love it!

10. Old Pottery IG and 4 Puppies Heartwarming Dogs c1950s JAPAN

Winning Bid:  $145.00 (RK)

This is an old pottery IG complete with 4 puppies.   Two of the pups were linked with a chain.   At one time the other two were also linked with a chain but that second chain is now missing.   The figurines are ADORABLE!  Mama is watching over her babies very carefully.   She is graceful and her tail is gently gently curved next to her body.  Mama measures approximately:  7.5" high.  Her pups measure approximately 2.5" high.  On the bottom of Mama is the original stamp that says simply:  "JAPAN".  The pottery collar clasp that holds the chain is miraculously still intact!   The glaze is lovely.  This figurine dates back to the 1950s.   It is delicate and someone has treasured it for years.   Aside from some small signs of wear and a layer of dust, this figurine of a mother & her pups is still a joy to behold!!!

11. Staffordshire Child Sitting on IG Small Figurine England

Winning Bid:  $25.00 (KG)

This is a small pottery Staffordshire figurine.   A toddler is sitting on an Italian Greyhound's back.   Identification of real ANTIQUE Staffordshire figurines is difficult at best.  Anyone looking for a profusion of makers' names, marks, back stamps or date marks on Staffordshire figures will be sadly disappointed, though there are exceptions. Most figurines are not marked. If a printed mark is found, the piece is almost certainly 20th century.  Common attributes include a brightly painted design, a sturdy body and a clear glaze that gives an even appearance.   Identifying characteristics on this figurine such as being made of pottery, bright paint on one side only, absence of a maker's mark and painted eyes that do not look Japanese point towards antique Staffordshire. So does the tiny black specks of dust.    However, hollow casting points to a 20th century copy although there were a few antique Staffordshire figurines made with hollow casting.   There is no way for a non-expert to ever really date Staffordshire pottery accurately!  While I am quite sure in my own mind that this is Staffordshire...it might or might not be antique.

This particular figurine features a small child (probably a toddler) sitting on a sighthound, probably a fairly large IG.  Measurement is approximately:  3.3" high.   There are some signs of wear on the clear glaze with embedded dust.  In general, however, the figurine is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.  The figurine obviously has some age on it...but there is no way to properly date it.

12.  Vintage Copper Clad Metal Running IG Paperweight 4.5" Long c1930s

Winning Bid:  $45.00 (DS)

This is such a graceful old metal figurine of a running Italian Greyhound.  Over the entire figurine, including the pedestal base is a  layer of copper.   Measurement of the dog alone is approximately 4.5" long.  This particular paperweight came from the original mould.  My best guess is that it dates back to the 1930s because the pedestal style is definitely art deco.    Aside from some signs of wear on the copper finish, this figurine is in excellent condition.

Winning Bid: $50 (JB)

This is such an unusual, delicate and graceful Italian Greyhound figurine from 1960s Japan.   The tail alone displays a lovely curve.   The face is expressive.  Over the entire figurine is a gorgeous high gloss glaze that rivals fine glazes from England and Germany!    The dog is well detailed.   On the bottom is the original "NAPCOWARE IMPORT JAPAN" label. Measurement is approximately 4.5" HIGH.  This figurine is in excellent condition!!

14. Antique Staffordshire Pottery Italian Greyhound Figurine England cMid 1800s

Winning Bid: $50.00 (KG)

This is a real ANTIQUE pottery Staffordshire Italian Greyhound figurine from England. The dog has been hunting and was apparently successful.   The figure of a dead rabbit is outlined in raised relief beneath the dog's abdomen.  The figurine was made sometime during the mid 1800s in Staffordshire England.   On the bottom is the original intact air hole.   This dog is lovely!   The tail is narrow and gracefully curved.   Measurement is approximately 4" high. Aside from some delicate crazing this figurine is in amazingly fine condition.

*The colors on the above photos are not quite accurate.   There is no white on this figurine...but rather a lovely cream color.   The dog is also more orange than red.  The cream and orange tones together are gorgeous!

15. Antique Small Porcelain 3 High IG on Pedestal England  c1920s

Winning Bid: $30.00 (MO)

This is an unusual old IG figurine from England. Most of the paint has worn off...not that there was ever much paint to begin with on this figurine. What's interesting is that the paint was applied over ...not under... the glaze and that is why it wore off so easily. This is a definite Italian Greyhound. Around the dog's neck is a raised relief Victorian style neck decoration.   Under the dog is the suggestion of an oval Victorian style raised pedestal base.  The figurine is hollowcast.  Measurement is approximately 3" high. I was told that the figurine was created in England circa 1920s but it is unmarked.   Aside from one small surface chip on the dog's right ear and a layer of dust (it is my policy not to touch vintage figurines)....this figurine is still absolutely lovely!

     Japan Graceful!

Winning Bid: $45.00 (DS)

This is a fine pottery box featuring an Italian Greyhound resting on the lid.   On the bottom is the original label that reads:  "RO  JAPAN".   The style is art deco.   Art deco style usually relies more on grace of line for beauty rather than intricate detail.    This box is definitely in that style!!!  It is sophisticated, elegant and beautiful! The dog measures:   4.5" long.   At the widest point, the box measures:  3.5" wide.   Aside from some delicate crazing on the dog and an approximately 2.75" narrow surface chip around the bottom edge which DOES NOT SHOW when the box is displayed.....this box is still absolutely lovely!!!!

18. Italian Majolica Pottery 2 IGs at Play Colorful Beautiful Excellent
    Condition!

Winning Bid: $100.00 (CC)

This is a richly decorated, heavyweight majolica clay pottery, ornamented with paints and finally glazed.   Here is some information about majolica:

"In different periods of time and in different countries, the term majolica has been used for two distinct types of pottery:
Firstly, from the mid-15th century onwards, was maiolica, a type of pottery reaching Italy from Spain, Majorca [1] and beyond. This was made by a tin-glaze process (dip, dry, paint, fire), resulting in an opaque white glazed surface decorated with brush-painting in metal oxide enamel colour(s). During the 17th century, the English added the letter j to their alphabet.[2] Maiolica was commonly anglicized to majolica thereafter.
The second style of pottery known as majolica is the mid- to late-19th century Victorian style made by a simpler process (painting and then firing) whereby coloured lead silicate glazes were applied directly to an article resulting in brightly coloured, hard-wearing, inexpensive wares that were both useful and decorative, typically in naturalistic style. This type of majolica was introduced to the public at the 1851 Great Exhibition in London, later widely copied and mass-produced. Minton & Co., who developed the coloured lead glazes product, also developed and exhibited at the 1851 Exhibition a tin-glazed product in imitation of Italian maiolica which they called also majolica.  Wikipedia"

This is a more modern type of majolica.  Several years ago, this particular figurine was quite popular.  However, after trying to find an example of this on the internet, I failed. The figurine is now unusual. Two IGs are at play. They are decorated in a colorful Italian style using attractive insects and plants as decoration. The dogs are beautifully made!!! Measurements are approximately: 7.5" wide x a tad over 8" high. This is not a small figurine. It is in excellent condition!!!! You will smile every time you look at it! My IGs play like this all the time!!!

Three cold cast bronze Italian Greyhounds prop up the solid glass top of this lovely table. Under the dogs is a solid brass base. The glass top and the base are in very good condition! The base is 16” H x 19 1/2”W. The glass top is 30” diameter. This is a gorgeous table!
